Joss Whedon’s Firefly was a short-lived series on Fox that aired in 2004. Fox cancelled the series, but fan response and astronomical sales of the 15 episodes on DVD convinced Universal to buy the film rights to the show. The film Serenity expanded on the plot of the series. This is the 2-hour pilot episode of Firefly. The title of the pilot shares the film’s title.
